Volunteering At The

4th Street Lilac Festival

Sunday May 27th 2012

 

 

 

Pre-event arrival for volunteers at 5:30 AM starts with breakfast. ALL VOLUNTEERS check in at the

Information Tent located at

21st Ave. & 4th St. SW (west intersection).

 

Set-up: (5:45 – 7:45 AM) – Set-up vendor banquet tables along 4th Street and staple location     number to it. Assist with various other set-up tasks as required.

 

Block Captain: (7:30 – 10:00 AM) – Help assist vendors in locating their spot with valid permit.

 

Information Tent: (8:00 AM - 7:00 PM) – Help with unpacking all merchandise and displaying, moving supplies over to tent, selling merchandise and assist staff throughout day.

 

Parade Marshal: (9:00 – 11:30 AM) – Organize participants in line-up order as they arrive. Walk along parade route to keep the flow of the parade participants consistent.

 

Kids Area: (9:45 AM – 6:00 PM) – Assist with activities in supervision roles. Actual assigned tasks will vary from year to year. Two shifts – 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM & 2:00 – 6:00 PM OR ALL DAY

 

Stage Manager: Keep the programmed schedule running on time. Assist bands throughout shift. Monitor power source. Provide general information and relay pertinent information to event organizers or site managers.

 

  • Event Site Stage: Two shifts (10:30 – 2:30 & 2:00 – 6:00 = 4 hour shift or full day)
  • Beer Gardens Stage: Two shifts (11:30 – 4:00 & 3:30 – 8:30 or full day)

 

Street Team: (10:00 AM – 5:30 PM) - A team of two people to walk around the event and distribute program guides to the attendees.

 

Vendor Inspector: (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM) – Walk the event and verify vendor wares and permits.

 

Beer Gardens: (10:30 AM – 8:30 PM) – Monitor attendees, assist site security, bus tables, sort recycling and collect garbage. Two shifts available – 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM & 3:30 – 8:30 PM

 

Clean-Up Crew: (11:00 AM – 6:30 PM) – Remove full garbage bags from receptacles, replace with a new garbage bag and dispose into large bins.

 

Tear-down: (5:30 – 7:00 PM) – Motivate vendors to disassemble displays, pack-up, fold tables and place on west sidewalk if not already done.

 

 

 

OTHER NOTES:

 

  • Meals and beverages are provided for volunteers throughout the day
  • Letters of recommendation/reference will be provided upon request
  • Appreciation packages presented to each volunteer – includes T-Shirt, official Lilac Festival merchandise and VIP passes.
